6 weeks - its all over rover!

Oh the relief! 30 days of tripping in to Mercy for 7am treatments, getting zapped, pummelled, prodded, tut-tutted over, and ending up feeling like a POW who has escaped from Changi Prison. And they say the worst effects kick in for the two weeks AFTER the treatment. Aint that something to look forward to! Cancer must be the only condition in the world where you go in for treatment feeling great and come out feeling lousy. Some day I'll figutre out how that works. Great big kudos to Fay who has had to put up with me during all this - (I'm a bloke, so when I suffer, she suffers). Big thanks to Glens in-laws, Maarten and Anne, who took us out boating last weekend -  a fabulous day off Kawau Is. Tomorrow we hope to go to Whangamata for the Annual Beach Hop, a fun weekend of classic, hot-rod and vintage cars, rock n'roll in the streets - great times for the over 50s.
As for the future? A few weeks reprieve, then more scans, tests and plans for stage 2 of the treatment - not for the faint-hearted! Now officially unemployed, having sold the cab franchise, so new fields and opportunities beckon. Am I up for it? Absolutely! Keep journeying with me -I still need you on the team. Stage one is now a memory - stage two is about to begin...

  1. Congrats on getting the 6 days of treatment behind you. You are awesome! Have a great time at the Beach Hop, and be careful of Aunty Fay's hand as you get into the rock and roll dancing.

  2. Great to hear that your 30 days of treatment is over, seemingly without too many problems. With your dedication to your healthy diet, and positive attitude, you are in good stead to also be ok over the next few weeks...post treatment.
You're right about cancer treatment making a 'well' person feel sick ! Strange !
Hope you enjoy the Beach Hop. We plan to go next year and unleash our Rock n Roll dancing expertise !

  8. Murray I know how you feel about the treatment being worse than the disease but now Stage 1 is OVER, so relax and enjoy life. Sounds like the boat trip was wonderful! Have a few weeks off until Stage 2 and just enjoy the Autumn and our beautiful weather. Pleased you've given up the cab - just take it easy! Praying for you always. Love Penny and Tim XX

Blessings to Fay, it sure ain't easy, men don't suffer silently (at home) that is. Like Bill though, I am sure you have tried to keep your chin up ! So glad we have the memory of that lovely ride in your limousine, maybe next time you will be into helicopters. Love and prayers, Margaret & Bill

  11. Well done Murray - good to see that you are facing it like a real "bloke" - the MOB will be proud of you!!!! I hate to tell you that I may not be able to face you and the MOB again. Althea & I have bought a bike each and she has had baskets put on the front of them so we can go out riding with our toy poodles in them. Imagine me on a bike with a basket and a toy poodle - what will they think!!!!
